Our History

Welcome to the history page of Team Type C, a proud contender in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) since our foundation in 2015. Our journey began in Torreón, at the American School, where a passionate group of students, supported by our principal sponsor Peñoles, embarked on a mission to dive into the thrilling world of robotics.

From our humble beginnings, Team Type C (formerly known as TCats) has grown significantly both in size and expertise. Over the years, our team has evolved, marked by a significant milestone in the 2022-2023 season when we decided to rebrand our team, adopting a new name and image to better represent our evolving vision and goals.

In 2022, recognizing the importance of nurturing early interest in STEM, we expanded the FIRST program at our institution by establishing two FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams. These teams provide students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades with their first steps into the world of robotics, fostering skills and enthusiasm from a young age. Continuing with this mission, in 2023, we launched a FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team for middle school students, thereby completing the spectrum of FIRST programs for all grades offered by our school.

Throughout our history, we have been committed to excellence, innovation, and teamwork, which has led us to achieve remarkable success in various competitions. We are proud to have won three regional competitions, among other prestigious awards, which stand as a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team members.

Our team is not just about building robots; it's about building futures. We strive to inspire and develop the next generation of engineers, programmers, and problem solvers through hands-on experiences and challenges. Each year, we aim to surpass our previous achievements, pushing the boundaries of what we can accomplish together.

Join us as we continue to build, compete, and grow. Here's to many more years of success and innovation in robotics!
